Obituary of Janice Lee Bowman

Janice Lee Bowman, 83, a Colorado Springs resident since 1958, passed away August 19, 2021 from complications caused by COVID. Jan was born September 8, 1937 in Gary, Indiana. She grew up in Metropolis, Illinois and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Jan attended Ann Arbor High School and the University of Michigan where she was a Pi Beta Phi. She loved spending time with her mother before her passing, and her life's passion was supporting her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jan entered the Hospitality and Tourism Industry in the late 1970's and enjoyed working at The Raintree Inn, Embassy Suites, and most of all the Colorado Springs Convention Bureau. She was proud of her career that began as a Front Desk Clerk and ended as a Director of Domestic Tour and Travel. Jan enjoyed the many great things that Colorado has to offer for tourism along with other cities and places she visited in neighboring states. After working at the Colorado Lighthouse, she retired and enjoyed spending more time with family and friends. She cherished her friends where they would meet regularly for lunch, shopping, and conversations about their families. Jan loved people and had many lifelong friends. She was kind, giving, compassionate, loving, and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma Geneva English (Goelz).Jan is survived by her sons, Jim Bowman (Jeanne Nazimek), Jordy Bowman, Jed Bowman (Robyn Geary); eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A private family Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date due to COVID restrictions.
