Greg and I met at a Radiant Church men's breakfast, served together at Hope & Home, went on hikes and met up one on one for Bible study / steak dinners at his apartment. Greg was a man of God. He is missed.

Greg and I met as members of Alpha Phi Omega. We first shared a grilled cheese sandwich the way his mom made them, while studying for an exam at his apartment. We'd go on to spend nights hanging out, listening to music on the radio, and requesting songs. His love for God was always present. I visited him in 1984 in Dillon Colorado. He took me on a tour of the ski resorts, including Keystone where he worked. Greg was always drawn to the mountains. When I visited him in Colorado Springs, he took me to the local attractions and we attended church together. I have so many more memories of Greg. My sincere condolences to Roger, Marilyn, Brad, Leslie, and his nieces and nephews. Much love to all.

I met Greg in early 1994 when I was hosting a home Bible study. If you say the word "Bible study" Greg is sure to be there…and he was early come hell or high water. It didn't take long to see that we really didn't have a lot in common except for a love of the Lord. Greg and I had some different views of politics, movies, sports, music, education and many other things, but our bond through Jesus Christ meant that all of these things didn't matter a lot. He might want to climb a 14er while I preferred to sit and read. He would prefer listening to Neil Diamond while I would spin some jazz. When we went camping Greg insisted on cooking over an open fire while I preferred a propane stove. We might have been a Felix and an Oscar, but I'll tell you this: I loved Greg and he loved me. I never had a brother growing up. Greg filled that void for over 27 years. Greg may not have had highly sophisticated tastes or lofty ambitions. He simply wanted to use the talents he had to live this life responsibly and to serve the Lord. And he definitely had his talents. The most remarkable talent was his ability to remember birthdays. I could tell him the birthday of one of my relatives, whom he never met, and Greg would be able to recall that birthday ten years later. I have never met anyone else who could do that. Greg was meticulously organized. He had everything in his house labeled. He typed it into the computer so he could find that his old cell phone from 2004 was to be found in bin number 7. He was a hunt-and-peck kinda guy, so it must have taken him many hours to type all of this information, but he plunked away at the task, even though he really didn't love technology and could easily get fed up. Greg didn't give up easily. If he had a decent job, he would work it…until the company folded. He committed himself to volunteer at church and other Christian organizations. He was trying to learn Spanish so that he might be able to visit and communicate with his two sponsored Compassion children some day. Learning in a standard school setting was difficult for Greg…but he certainly wanted to learn and just kept on trying…even well into adulthood. Greg committed to friendships, churches, employers and most importantly to God. Some of you know that Greg and I had a special agreement for the last four years. I retired and started a life as a professional vagabond in a motorhome. Greg agreed to watch my house, keep up the maintenance, fix whatever broke, send my mail to wherever I was, pack up and ship out the books that I was selling and defend the house from fire, flood, theft nuclear bombs or anything else. In exchange I offered Greg a very low rent. Some people have come up to me and said: "Michael, that was really nice what you did for Greg." Let me set the record straight: I'm the one who got the better deal. Thanks Greg and I'll see you up there some day.

My husband Rusty and I met Greg 32 years ago at West County Assembly of God Church in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a dear brother in the Lord and a loyal friend. No matter where we were in the world, he never failed to keep in touch. Greg loved the outdoors, hiking and skiing. He also was involved in mentoring young boys who had no father figure. He enjoyed doing this and it brought him much fulfillment. I had spoken with Greg about a month before he passed, and he shared with me that his greatest desire would be to see his mom & dad accept Jesus as their personal savior. Greg was a firm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says "to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Greg is rejoicing in the presence of his creator! We look forward to that day when we shall see him again. May the Lord comfort his mom & dad, brother and sister, and the rest of the family. Irene Eads Dallas Tx

I met Greg while attending Southeast Missouri State University. We were in the same community- service fraternity. Greg told me about a bus trip package to Colorado for downhill- skiing planned for January 1982. He had previously gained much experience on the snowy slopes during former vacations with his parents, Rodger and Marilyn. Greg was a great instructor to me and by the second day I went on a very short "black slope", which is the steepest available. I married my wife, Maggie, in 1984. One of Greg's first post- college jobs was located in the same community where my wife and I lived, and Greg brought additional friends into the loop- Rusty, Irene, Scott, and Laura among them. We gathered for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship often in our home. Greg also introduced me to racquetball, and Greg and his father Rodger introduced me to sailing. I then had ownership of a motorized boat for several years, and had the opportunity to provide water ski instruction to Greg and these friends. This group also enjoyed a longer trip for camping and water skiing at a lake in Oklahoma over one July 4 week. Greg served in his church, and helped a downtown ministry that needed sandwiches to feed those unable to provide for themselves. Every week he would prepare the food and take it downtown for distribution. Few of us will know all that Greg did to serve the Lord Jesus Christ by showing compassion and being a true Christian example of living and serving those in need in the communities he lived in through his lifetime. Upon departure from his life on our planet, Greg will surely have heard these words from our Lord: "Well done good and faithful servant". Well done, Greg. We will miss you for now until we meet again in the New Heaven and the New Earth as planned by our Lord. Read about it in the last chapters of the book of Revelation. David Sohn

Greg & I were friends at Parkway Central High School in the suburbs of St. Louis in the late 1970s. Greg and I were in Spanish class together and we took trips to Mexico together with the other students in 1977 and 1980. Later, in 1986, we set out on our own trip to (the city of) Cancún for a week to explore local historic sites: Chichén Itzá, Tulum, and some of the more impoverished areas outside the view of hotel zone tourists. Greg was better at the language than I which helped us interact with locals. Some years later (when I was in Colorado Springs for a business trip), my wife and I joined Greg for a short hike and lunch. We also caught up a couple times while he was back in St. Louis to visit his parents, nieces and nephews. Greg was always interesting to talk to and I had hoped to hike a 14'er with him one day. It was a shock to hear he'd passed so young. To all that loved and cared for Greg, please accept my condolences.

Was just getting to know Greg a bit this year, hiked with him in the Pikes Peak region a bit in the CSCS group, was hoping to get to know him better. A gentle and kind man. Philippians 1:21, "to live is Christ, to die is gain." The preamble is finished, now begins Greg's greater life, will miss him on the trails.

Greg was at ease living in the mountains of Summit County Colorado. I was sad when he left to live and work in Colorado Springs. He had a great attitude and brought out good in his mountain friends. He laughed at my stories and I enjoyed hanging out with him. I like God's promise that there is a place for Greg in heaven.
