Obituary of Rex Philip Sondeno

In loving memory of Rex Philip Sondeno, our brother, cousin, uncle, and friend.Rex celebrated his 72nd birthday several weeks ago. He just passed away on Sunday morning, September 12, 2021.Born in San Jose on August 10, 1949, he grew up with his parents and younger sister Gayle (Sondeno) Wilson. Rex studied history and became a Civil War scholar. He taught school in Missouri for a while and later became a licensed contractor to join his father at Sondeno Construction in the San Jose area.Rex had many hobbies. He became a licensed pilot, he collected antique rifles of the revolutionary and civil wars. For a time, he joined an archeological dig in Israel. He served on a mission's trip in Peru to help build a church and school.Last year, Rex struggled with Parkinson's Disease. So, his sister Gayle moved him out to Colorado Springs to live comfortably in a new assisted living facility. His last days were with family members who often visited him. He focused on westerns and cowboy TV shows. We rejoice Rex is now pain-free and celebrating in heaven with his parents, uncles, and perhaps thousands ofrevolutionary and civil war soldiers.Rex is survived by his sister, Gayle (Sondeno) Wilson; and his brother-in-law, Wes Wilson.
