Obituary of Jody Lyn Senia
Jody Lyn Senia was born Jody Lyn Sergeant on July 22, 1960, to her parents Terry and Fosteen Sergeant. She grew up with an older brother and two younger sisters, moving around the country and even to Japan due to her father being in the Air Force. Jody graduated from Monzano High School in 1978. In 1980, Jody met and married her husband, Frank Senia. She became an Air Force spouse and followed him around the country and to the far east as well, living in the Philippines and even Japan once again. Jody always remained deeply in love and committed to her marriage, and had a happy, loving, and fun relationship with Frank. In 1988 she gave birth to her only child, Jessica. Jody chose the most difficult job, to stay home and raise her daughter, and eventually homeschooled her as well. After Frank retired in 1996, Jody continued to follow him across several states until settling in the Colorado Springs, Colorado area in 1998. Jody dedicated her life to helping Jessica work to achieve her dreams. The countless hours at horse barns, art classes, and the work she put into homeschooling were deeply influential and appreciated.Jody gradually became involved in local political activism and anyone who knew her knew she was incredibly passionate about preserving freedom and liberty for all, and especially for her grandchildren. She was an advocate and a patriot, an avid supporter of veterans and those who have served their country, and was not scared to stand up for what she believed in. She loved her country as deeply as anyone could. She became a grandmother to an angel baby, Shiloh, in 2008, and then again to the twins, Marcus and Colt, in 2011. Jody was a fiercely devoted and protective grandmother and played a huge role in helping Jessica to raise and school them. She was and still is their Mimi and had a special bond with them over everything from animals to gardening to watching housing shows together while enjoying popcorn. Jody helped with everything from diapers to teaching them to read and was thankful for every chance she got to bond and spend time with her grandchildren.Jody was a lover of animals, especially dogs, and golden retrievers were her favorite breed. Her dogs were always a huge part of the family and received the best care and love any animal could hope for. She passed that love on to her daughter and grandchildren. Jody loved all animals, and expanded her animal family into Jessica's horses, and various other pets such as lizards and birds; she welcomed and loved them all. She also loved nature and enjoyed being in the mountains and going on hikes with her family, as well as spending time in her garden at home. Jody held on to a deep love of the deserts of New Mexico and the sunsets they experience, as well as the beaches of Destin, Florida where she spent the majority of her teenage years. Most mornings one could find her with a cup of hot tea, sitting on the front deck watching the sparrows and quail in the front yard, content and at peace.Jody was a dynamic force of personality, fierce in defending her beliefs and would do anything for her loved ones. No one doubted where they stood with her, and she made sure her loved ones knew how special they were to her. She unfortunately was called home on September 20, 2021. We take solace in knowing she is reunited with her father, Terry; her granddaughter, Shiloh; and all of her many dogs she loved throughout her life. Jody leaves behind her husband of forty years, Frank; as well as her daughter, Jessica; and grandsons, Marcus and Colt. She also leaves her mother, Fosteen Sergeant; brother, Tony Sergeant; sisters, Nikki Barratt and Cherie Griffey, and their families. Her beloved golden retriever, Belle, remains at home, as do her "granddogs", Boomer and Maze, and "grandhorses", Riff, Wyatt, and Doc. She remains deeply loved and is greatly missed by all.
