Obituary of Levi Kekoa McConnell

It is with the deepest of sorrow that we announce that Levi Kekoa McConnell has conquered his battle with brain cancer. In the early morning of September 28th, he joined his ancestors and Savior while in the loving arms of his parents. He was born in Clovis, New Mexico on the 16th of September, 2008. As an Air Force kid, he lived a vibrant and adventurous life in New Mexico, Alaska, Germany, Colorado and the many places around the world he's visited. Levi loved the outdoors, building LEGOs, bike races, playing Fortnight, his sisters, and his faithful dog, Willow. He loved to dance and perform with Mnava o Polynesia. The strenuous dance practices and rehearsals were worth it because of the deep friendships that were born with his hula brothers and sisters. He loved performing, especially when friends and family were in the audience. His empathy and compassionate behavior was noticed in every report card and school conference. We were raising a good human being. His love language was quality time (which is why he loved long road trips, camping, and movie nights) yet he spoke everyone else's love language clearly and loudly. He loved to bake chocolate chip cookies for everyone and make his famous sloppy joes' for his family. He was a young caretaker who enjoyed making everyone happy. Levi's legacy is survived by his parents, Kathleen and Ryan; his sisters, Kyla, Adelaide and Effie; his dog, Willow; his Papa and Baba (Michael and Mutsuko McConnell); Bumpa and Grandma (Joseph and Pamela Peters); and a host of loving family and friends. Levi bravely fought and ultimately won his 14+ month battle with Diffuse Midline Glioma. He fought with resilience, gratitude, humor and above all hope. When he knew there was no cure, he always said "not yet". Please honor his brief but spectacular 13 years on Earth by raising awareness for pediatric cancer and the lack of treatments available. The Cure Starts Now is an organization that donates almost 100% of proceeds to research. Live like Levi, with gratitude, humor, love, adventure and a smile. Like a Conqueror.
