Robert D. Mouirguies, 91, passed peacefully from this world at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado on October 3, 2021. He was born on August 6, 1930, in Wathena, Kansas to the late Mary Helen (Hanke) and Charles Frederick Mouirguies.Bob will long be remembered by the nickname Mr. Magoo (after the famous cartoon character) given to him by friends and family, likely due to the difficulty in spelling or pronouncing his given last name!Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17, was selected to attend Officer Candidate School and received a commission as an 2nd Lieutenant at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He was medically retired as a 1st Lieutenant due to injuries sustained while on active duty at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. Later in life, Bob again served his country with thirty-two years in the Civil Service for the Department of Air Force supporting our country's nascent space capabilities and ultimately retired.Bob leaves behind to treasure his memory his wife, Marlene Kelley; four children from his first wife of fifty-four years, Virginia Lea (Jeanne) Benson Mouirguies; Sandy Crosby, Debbie Mouirguies, Bobbie Staats and Marilu (Steve) Alltop; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren; as well as two stepchildren, Michael (Carrie) Kaple and Kelli Hobbs; six step-grandchildren; and fifteen step-greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his second wife, June (Herbert Brough) Mouirguies; and his son, Charles Frederick Mouirguies.Bob was a member of Manitou Lodge #68, a fifty-year member of the Masonic Organization, and Member of the Southern Colorado Consistory and Shrine of North America, specifically Al Kaly Shrine, Colorado Springs Shrine Club, serving as Potentate in 2001. Bob was especially proud of his work with the Shriner's Hospital for Children. The family asks that those who knew Bob, remember him in their own way. If you would like to make a contribution in his honor, we suggest the Shriner's Hospital for Children (Transportation Fund) Colorado Springs Shrine Club (CSSC) 6 South 33rd Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
