Obituary of Margaret Hiestand Nealon
Margaret "Maggie" Hiestand Nealon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. The youngest of three children, she was born June 19, 1927, in Pasadena, California. Maggie was a devoted wife of Seventy-one years, a loving mother to three daughters, a grandmother to nine, great-grandmother to twenty, and friend to everyone. She had a contagious laugh, a servant's heart, and spread kindness and love in any situation. She was a proud Navy wife for thirty-four years, always active with family and friends, enduring nineteen moves around the world and across the country. She and her husband, Bill, retired in Monument, Colorado in 1977. After settling in Monument, she served meals to those in need in the Monument community, volunteered at Woodmoor Improvement Association, and opened her home and heart to many cherished neighbors and friends. Maggie was an avid reader, bowler, bridge player, skier, cross-stitcher, knitter, and golf enthusiast. Always working on a project, she knit sweaters and hats (a few still being shared with great-grandchildren), hand stitched felt appliqued Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren on an annual basis and blessed many family and friends with beautiful cross-stitch gifts to remember birth or marriage dates. Maggie's example of love, service and family has been instilled in her family whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her daughters, Terry Bogel, and Michelle Bhatta; her sons-in-law, William Bhatta, and Steve Stith; her grandchildren and their spouses; and her great-grandchildren. She joins her husband, Bill; daughter, Laurie; son-in-law, Tom; and countless family and friends in Heaven. For those left to cherish their loving memory, we will look to the stars and raise a glass in their honor all the while knowing that they are smiling down upon us.
