Obituary of William "Bill" David McGregor
William (Bill) McGregor, age 77, formerly of West Jordan, UT passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, while visiting family in Colorado Springs, CO.�Bill was born in Columbia, SC on May 26, 1944, and lived an eclectic life. He spent his childhood living in places like Sri Lanka, Jamaica, Panama, and all over the United States. He had an ear for languages and spoke Sinhalese and Spanish. In his adult life, he had a career in law enforcement, security and loss prevention, and was a skilled entrepreneur owning several restaurants and private investigation businesses. Bill had a sharp wit and could make anyone smile. He loved camping, was a phenomenal cook, enjoyed family dinners, playing games, and most of all watching his grandchildren grow.��Bill will be remembered for his endless love and dedication to his family and friends. He worked tirelessly in his final years to protect those he loved from his struggles with Parkinson's disease. A true testament to the volume of his love.�His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his children, Marc McGregor, Jill Thayer, Jared & Kristina Leikam, and Michael & Alison Maquet; his grandchildren, Judith Cantril, Madeira Thayer, Ryan Thayer, Madison Leikam, Ethan Maquet, Michael Leikam, Evan Maquet, and Amelia Leikam; his siblings, Mac & Nancy McGregor, Sarah Ann Flinkingshelt, Peter & Chris Loos; and his dear friend, Marilyn Drechsel. He is preceded in death by his parents Clive & Sarah Loos; his siblings Humphrey McGregor and Larry Flinkingshelt; and his son; Michael Thayer.�A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, February 11, 2022, Bill's family and friends are invited to attend. Inurnment will be at 11:00 am at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Followed by a luncheon at 12:00 pm at The Gathering Place at Gardner Village, 100 West 7800 South, West Jordan, Utah. We will be gathering to share our memories, our stories, to laugh, and to cry and remember this wonderful person who is greatly missed. We ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his memory to the Parkinson's Foundation.
