Obituary of Harvey Bryan Hunt, USMC Jr.
Harvey Bryan Hunt Jr., 96 passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs on November 19, 2021.Born December 7, 1924, in Harper Kansas, Harvey was one of seven children, son of the late Harvey Bryan Hunt and Gladys (McCrady) Hunt.He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Helen Vining; sisters, Frances Resnick, and Sandra Dukes; and brothers, Everett Hunt and Bill Hunt. Harvey has one surviving brother, Harry Hunt.Harvey enlisted in the Marine Corps after graduating from Wann High School in Oklahoma. He began his active service on March 3, 1943 and served his country valiantly as a rifleman in a series of battles in the South Pacific, including Kwajalein, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. Private First Class Hunt was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received while carrying a wounded officer to safety on Tinian in the Mariana Islands. After healing from his wounds he rejoined the Fourth Marine Division to fight on Iwo Jima where he witnessed the raising of the American Flag on Mt. Siribachi.After the war, Harvey went to the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a law degree and also served in the Army Reserves. He worked with Skelly Oil for four decades, including as regional manager in charge of leasing operations in Western Canada, Alaska and California. In the 1980's, Harvey and his friend, Andy Masson formed Exploration Consultants in Tulsa, Oklahoma.His bride, Geraldine Logan, was the daughter of Oklahoma Bar Association President, Garrett Logan and his wife Esther. Harvey and Geraldine were married for forty-nine wonderful years, until her death in 1996. They had three children, Bryan Logan of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Linda Marie of Woodland Park, Colorado, and Barry Patrick of Divide, Colorado. Harvey is survived by his three children; three grandchildren, Casey Dolen, Claire Hunt, and Colleen Hunt; and a great-granddaughter, Rosemary Jean.Harvey married Margaret Dolman in 1997 and continued to live in Tulsa. Margaret had four children, Lucy, Mary, David, and Kerry who survive Harvey. Margaret passed away in 2016.Harvey attended First Presbyterian Church in Tulsa from 1975 until recently. He loved golfing, history, traveling and visiting family. He was a true gentleman and a dapper dresser whom preferred slacks and wingtips even when mowing the lawn.Interment, at a later date in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
