Obituary of Larry Jordan ,US Army

Larry was born in Lancaster Pennsylvania to the late Helen Jordan Cotton and Thomas Williams. He was the third of ten siblings. He developed a love for singing at an early age as he was known for having a smoooooth silky voice similar to the late Luther Vandross. While growing up in Lancaster he would sing on street corners with his friends. By age 17, while still in high school, he toured the local city scene as one of four vocalists in a rock group called the Mighty Quotations. After Larry graduated high school, he attended college and played football. In 1979 Larry would join the United States Army where he excelled as a Medical Specialist. After Larry left military service and retired from working in healthcare, he took up several hobbies such as cooking and gardening. He loved being outside on his patio where he would grill food several times a week that would lead neighbors to peak over the fence and ask, "What are you cooking now?" Larry was a born-again Christian who loved God! He dedicated his life to Christ and to Christian service. Larry was ordained as a Deacon in 2006 as he served faithfully at Independent Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of the late Pastor John H. Felder, Sr. While there he continued to use his voice singing in the church choir. Later, Larry became a member of King Solomon Baptist Church in 2013 and continued to use his gift of singing with the T-Moss Men's choir serving under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Kelvin Dumas. At home, Larry was quite the social butterfly! No matter where he lived, he would hang out in the garage hanging shelving, building planter boxes or smoking meat. He intentionally positioned himself where he could see people coming and going waiting for an opportunity to speak to them as their neighbor and friend. Larry would also strike up a conversation with strangers in ANY store, he did so by commenting on how cute their kids were, admiring someone's haircut, or whatever caught his eye. This in turn eventually led him to ask those strangers what church they belonged to. He truly loved talking to people, what surprised us the most was he could speak Spanish, German, and several Korean dialects just enough to hold a short conversation.Larry was a husband, a father, father figure, Grandpop, uncle, brother, friend, comforter and encourager to those whose lives he touched. He is deeply missed. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his wife, Tina Felder-Jordan; children and stepchildren, Michael Jordan, Lawrence Hill, Larissa Owens, Brandon Jemison, and Alycia (Antoine) Smalls; his sisters, Jacqueline (John) Unrein , Diana (David) Barton , Pamela Winder, Robin Woodard, Karen Cotton; his brothers, Spencer (Saude) Jordan, Robert (Lisha) Anderson, John Cotton, Bennett Cotton, his grandchildren, Quinten Jordan, Jareez Felder, Nicollette Baldridge, Jakaria Smalls, Antonio Smalls, and Asaiah Felder; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and an uncle.Visitation, 5:00-7:00PM, Monday, December 6, 2021, The Springs Funeral Services - North Chapel, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.Funeral Service, 10:00AM, Tuesday, December 7, 2021, The Springs Funeral Services - North Chapel, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.Masks/ facial coverings required.Burial at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
