Rev. Robert Chin was a special man of God. I knew Rev. Chin from the Intervarsity Fellowship at the State University of New York in Albany from 1974 to 1975. Bob - as well all called him - was the president of the InterVarsity Chapter, which was called Albany Evangelical Christians. It was quite evident that Carol was going to be a loving and faithful partner during this year. If I recall, Bob was studying as a graduate student in Counseling. Bob was a devoted bible teacher, and very passionate about the scriptures and the call of God on his life and his partnership with Carol. The students looked up to Bob and Carol since they had a singleness of purpose. I saw Bob during the Summer of 2004 in Colorado - maybe Colorado Springs, and may have spoken to him one time before. We were both originally from NYC - Bob from Queens and me from the Bronx. Bob was certainly a high academic achiever and quite an intellectual. More importantly, the call of the Lord meant everything to Bob. He had a single-heart to serve the Lord Christ Jesus. And although I did not contact him year after year subsequent to his departure from SUNY-Albany, I knew his sole purpose in life was to serve the Lord Christ Jesus and to declare God's saving grace. I know that Bob did this to the time the Lord called him home. Yes, I am sadden. But I know that Bob completed the task that the Lord put before Him. I pray for God's rich blessing on Carol and the Chin family. I pray for God's comfort to reign in their lives. Will they miss Rev. Chin. Absolutely. But I suspect they are very thankful to God to have him as a spouse, father, and friend. Rev. Chin displayed JESUS. He did what we all are called to do. I also will miss Rev Chin - quite deeply - but not nearly as much as Carol and his family and closest friends. Bob was a big brother and a mentor. Although the Lord had me find out about Rev. Chin's passing with some months gone by, I thank God our Father and Christ Jesus the Lord of Glory and Hope of the Universe for the ministry and friend of Rev. Robert Chin. Agape, Tyrone Bynoe

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's loss. He loved the Lord and others so very much. And I know that the first thing he heard in Heaven was "Well done, good and faithful servant." But I will miss him very much.

When I came to know God 40+ years ago, I knew I had to find a church and God lead me to Kaimuki Evangelical church where Bob was pastoring. His passion and love for God spilled out in His sermons. There I was filled with the Word, but he knew that the Word alone was not complete without the Spirit, making us hungry for Holy Spirit. He gathered us together to attend every conference whenever a prophet, apostle or evangelist came to town. Thank you, Bob and Carol for opening your home for weekly bible study, Wednesday night worship and Sat morning prayer time at church; and even participating in March for Jesus parade. Those were the days of growing and learning to love God. Today, I envision Bob as a as an excited little boy sitting on Father God's lap. I received this poem called My First Christmas in Heaven by Wanda Bencke in my email a few days ago and I think it expresses how Bob must be feeling now…here's just an excerpt: Please let your heart be joyful, And let your spirit sing. For I'm spending Christmas in Heaven, And I'm walking with the King! .… Can you just imagine Christmas, With our Savior, face to face? blessings, jc

Hi I just found an email that I had thought I had sent to Bob this last summer but I wanted you all to at least see. Here it is Hi Bob I just want to thank you for a testimony you gave a few weeks ago about your feeling down and defeated because the presidential l candidate you wanted , I believe you said it that way ( I know you are for Trump and we are for him also) that the Lord spoke and encouraged you that He The Lord is still in control. That struke a chord in me and last Saturday I felt like the Lord was doing a VICTORY ! Tour around the USA, declaring VICTORY! because He is VICTORIOUS and nothing is going to stop it. We can declare VICTORY! Whoever wins the vote because God is Victorious and He is still in control and He hears our prayers. God be with you and manifest MORE LORD ! Doug Groves

Carol, Brian, David, and Elizabeth, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Pastor Bob's passing. I look back very fondly of your time in Hawaii. After all, it was at KEC with Pastor Bob where I found Christ! Every service was meaningful to me. I love the video tribute too-- it is beautiful! Pastor Bob looked the same from his early childhood days through adulthood! And Carol-- you look the same too! I thought he'd live forever but now he is truly home. As Mary said, God's timing is perfect. I'm very grateful for having had the opportunity to know all of you. May God bless and comfort you all.

Dear Carol and Kids: I am stunned and saddened to hear of Pastor Bob's passing. I seems that God has so much more to accomplish through his life but God's timing is perfect. Bob was definitely a major instrument in God's hands at our church in Hawaii. Thank you for ministering with him all those years. Love, Mary Tom and Chris Marsh

There are few men as truthful and stalwart as Bob Chin. He stood his ground and I and others were priviledged in standing with him. He is three months older than me so we came from the same generation. Bob wanted to reach the world for Christ but couldn't do that from Hawaii so God moved him on to Colorado Springs where he did touch the world for Jesus. As we face a billion man revival next year, Bob will have front row seats in heaven. Deepest condolences to the Chin family. And Bob see you in heaven one day.
