Obituary of Joshua Ward Jackson
Joshua Ward Jackson, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away suddenly on November 28, 2021.He was born on May 6, 1988 and although only 33 at the time of his death, Joshua touched many people in his lifetime.He was deeply committed to learning and serving others. He completed his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology/Sociology with honors from the University of Colorado-Denver in 2010 and obtained his Certificate in Addiction Counseling. He had plans to return to school to receive his Master's Degree in Social Work.Joshua served as an Intake Specialist at the Fort Lyon Supportive Residential Community in Las Animas, Colorado. He also held positions at Otero Country Department of Health & Human Services and the United States Postal Service.During college Joshua further extended his service by helping to bring education to the vulnerable children of Uganda through the Come, Let's Dance program. Joshua was a shining light to all who knew him. He was passionate about making the people around him laugh, feel loved, and appreciated. He enjoyed hiking in the Rocky Mountains with his dog Sammi, fishing for northern pike on Upper Green Lake, Ontario, Canada, and spending time with family and friends. Josh also enjoyed cooking, playing computer games, and rollerblading. He looked forward to traveling back to Uganda, hosting neighborhood barbeques, and having the opportunity to change lives.Joshua is survived by his parents, John (Kim) Jackson of Centennial, Colorado, Susan (Kendall) Kelley of Littleton, Colorado; brothers, Jason (Laura) Jackson of Iowa City, Iowa, Nicholas (Jennifer) Jackson of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Robert Jackson of Littleton, Colorado; step-sister, Cassandra Lillard of Los Angeles, California; five nephews, TJ, Simon, Lukas, Lincoln, and Declan; two nieces, Kaylee and Harlow; grandmother, Shirley Jackson of Brookville, Ohio; grandfather, Jack Lynett of Akron, Ohio; uncles, John (Kim) Lynett of Akron, Ohio, Joe (Terry) Lynett of St. Charles, Missouri, Larry Jackson of Scott Depot, West Virginia, Estel Jackson of Lewisburg, Ohio, and Bryan Howett, of Chillicothe, Ohio; aunts, Sandy (Mark) Rose of Akron, Ohio, and Rebecca (Dwight) Jackson Smith of Phillipsburg, Ohio; and many cousins.Joshua was preceded in death by grandfather, Richard Jackson of Lewisburg, Ohio; grandmother, Sylvia ("Sy") Lynett of Akron, Ohio; aunt, Sara (Aaron) Lynett Anweiler of Akron, Ohio; aunt, Tammy Jackson Howett of Chillicothe, Ohio; cousin, Timothy Jacob Jackson of Winfield, West Virginia; and his loyal and beloved dog, Sammi.In lieu of flowers, Joshua, and his family request that contributions be made in the name of Joshua Jackson to Colorado Coalition for the Homeless for support of the Fort Lyon Community, PO Box 1560, Denver, Colorado 80201-1560.
