Obituary of David Cornelius Carlsen
David Cornelius Carlsen went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 5, 2021. He was born March 9, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John and Konstance Carlsen who were missionaries. David, with his parents, moved to Bolivia, South America. He was two, three, and four years old when they lived there. After that he lived in Minneapolis. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1958 and then attended the University of Minnesota and got a two-year degree from there. He was an ambulance driver for twelve years in Minneapolis. David married Barbara Shervey on November 12, 1965. Their three sons were born in Minnesota. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1974. Their daughter was born in Colorado Springs. They have two grandsons.While living in Colorado, he worked at Nabisco for thirty seven years. Dave enjoyed playing golf and being a Bronco and Rockies fan. He loved having his family living in Colorado Springs too and spoiling his grandsons. David was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David; his sister, Clara and her husband, Laurence Durfee; his sister, Charlotte and sister-in-law, Omeda Carlsen; his brother-in-law, Charles Shervey and his wife, Janie; and brother-in-law, Jim LeBeau. He is survived by his wife Barbara; son, Andrew and his wife Amy; son, Timothy; daughter, Mary Jo and her husband, Kirby Kinkennon; and grandsons, Blake and Landon Kinkennon; his brother, John Carlsen; sister, Connie and her husband, Glenn Hanson; sister-in-law, Connie LeBeau, and many nieces and nephews. David was a Christian and knew he would be with Jesus and loved ones in heaven. He will be sorely missed!!The family has decided to have a private family service.
