Obituary of Fredia Bell Thompson

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Fredia Bell Thompson, 84, died December 9, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Fredia was born April 30, 1937 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Fred A. and Hattie B. (Barnhart) Williams and continued to make Colorado Springs her lifetime home.Fredia graduated from Colorado Springs High School (now Palmer High School) in 1955. She married her sweetheart, John Charles "Chuck" Thompson on March 1, 1957 at Roswell Community Church in Colorado Springs. Fredia and Chuck were active in Roswell Church for all of their sixty-four years of marriage. Fredia was known for providing some of the best food for church potlucks and family meals. She had a gift for taking in those who were alone, making them feel at home, and providing them with plenty to eat.In 1962, Fredia and Chuck adopted their son, Gary Lee Thompson, and in 1965, adopted their daughter, Stephanie Sue (Thompson) Smith. The Thompson family loved attending the National Western Stock Show and rodeo in Denver, Colorado every January, which eventually sparked Stephanie's love for horses. Fredia worked for several organizations in Colorado Springs over the years, including International Students Inc. at Star Ranch, and International Bible Society. Fredia loved Jesus and lived her life in every way for Him. She dearly loved her family, had a witty sense of humor, enjoyed crafting, knitting, cooking, baking, canning, and collecting nativity scenes and hummingbirds.Fredia was preceded in death by her parents; five older sisters; a nephew; two nieces; and most recently, by her sweet daughter, Stephanie, who passed away on December 3, 2021.Fredia is survived by her husband, John Charles "Chuck" Thompson; her son, Gary (Vicki) Thompson; son-in-law, Curtis Smith; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
