Obituary of Warren Ray Anthony Horchner

Warren was born in Colorado Springs at Ft. Carson Hospital, to Bernadette and Ray Horchner on a snowy morning the day after Halloween. Our dear son, father, brother, papa, and friend passed away from COVID on December 22, 2021, after nineteen days in the hospital. Some men are judged at the end of their lives on their accomplishments whether an invention or their contributions to mankind; Warren's greatest gift was his capacity to love. Warren was a man beloved by all. He had a heart large enough to love his children, granddaughter, and all his family and friends in equal measure. Warren opened his heart to all who either crossed his path, or touched his world whether for a short time or long-term, Warren knew no strangers. Warren has friends in his circle from before kindergarten with whom he is still friends. He had a capacity to love that was unequaled, thus he was very blessed and rich in family and friends. What a man!The love that was most prominent in his life for the last four years was the love for his granddaughter, JoAnalise. Every day Warren emptied his pocket change into a mason jar. When the jar was full, he had a "Special Date" with JoJo. The date was exclusive for only the two of them. JoJo went with her PaPa to cash in the coins, buy whatever toy she desired, eat at the restaurant of her choice, and whatever other activity their little "treasure" allowed.Warren lived for very brief periods of time in Oregon, Tennessee, and Arizona. As a sixth generation Coloradoan, whose family has lived in Colorado for well over two hundred fifty years, Warren lived the majority of his life in the Cragmor area of Colorado Springs. From big-wheels, through skateboards, bicycles, mopeds, and cars there wasn't a point within Colorado's borders that he didn't explore and know first-hand, yet, always his first love was the Cragmor area. Warren's commitment to the music scene was unprecedented, a love affair born in punk rock heaven. Warren's only claim to fame was playing an "air guitar" in school, yet throughout his life he had an uncanny ear for knowing the right sound. He lived his life through music, mostly in punk rock, yet he had an eclectic ear and appreciation for all genre of music. Warren was preceded in death by his beloved Pompo, Elmer (Cisco) Gerardo; his grandmother, Mary Gerardo; and paternal grandparents, Agnes Stowe Gaynor of Baltimore, Maryland, and Ray K. Horchner of Hagerstown, Maryland.Warren is survived by his son, Jesse Ray Horchner of Little Rock, Arkansas; his daughter, Jacqulyn S. Horchner of Colorado Springs; his granddaughter, JoAnalise Horchner; his mother, Bernadette Horchner of Colorado Springs; his father, Ray E. Horchner of Arizona; his sister, Raquel (Virgil) Terry of Edwards, Missouri; six nieces, Ashley, Heather, Amy, Brooke, Hailey, and Brandy Terry; his former wife, Carrie Horchner; and his significant other, Tanya Swanson both of Colorado Springs.
