Obituary of Harding Henry Curtis

Harding Henry Curtis (Curt) aged 75 of Colorado Springs, CO passed away from cancer on December 29, 2021. He was born on December 10, 1946 in Claremont, New Hampshire to Harding S Curtis and Dorothy Therrien Curtis. Curt graduated from Stevens High School before attending Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. where he met Sandra Alexander, the love of his life. Due to Vietnam, he joined the Air Force in February 1966 where he served for the next 22 years. He and Sandra were married in 1967 and had two beautiful girls together, Allison and Jennifer. While in the service they lived overseas in Okinawa and the Philippines. Curt became an excellent bowler there and was very active on the base bowling teams. Upon returning to the states in 1979, to Blytheville, Arkansas, the family became active in the base chapel program as well as sports. Curt coached his girls in softball, basketball and bowling and was very active in their lives. They moved to Tucson, AZ where Curt earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix before ultimately retiring from the Air Force in 1988. He went on to work in his same field of Logistics and Supply for many years. He formally retired in 2012 when they made plans to move to Colorado Springs to be near the girls' families including grandchildren in 2013. Although not that interested in snow, he quickly loved Colorado.During his life Curt was involved in church and community activities and along with Sandi helped many of the older residents in their Mobile Home Park. They enjoyed ballroom dancing together and traveling, especially cruises. A special remembrance was dancing on the boat on the Sea of Galilee in Israel. He was an avid reader, golfer and bowler for many years. The family is very close and enjoyed many things together. Curt and Sandi attended just about every sporting event, music concert, graduation or ceremony in which their children orgrandchildren ever participated. Curt was a beloved father and grandfather who showed his love with actions. He remained very active almost to the end, working out at the Y and enjoyed an extended visit with his brother, an amazing multi-generational trip to the mountains and the weddings of two of his grandchildren until cancer disabled him in October of 2021. Even then, he took joy in seeing pictures of his first great grandchild, knowing another was on the way, and watching videos of his grandsons' basketball games. He was a man of simple pleasures and clear priorities. We are grateful for many happy years together and the wonderful family God has blessed us with. Having Jesus as the center of his life made him an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Curt's love of God, country, and family is the legacy that he has passed on to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.Curt was preceded in death by his parents Harding and Dorothy Curtis, and his younger brother Ronald. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Sandra Alexander Curtis, his daughter Allison (Tim) Kealy - children Julia, Christina (Jason) Quinones and Carlos (Emily and Phoebe) and daughter Jennifer (Michael) Painter (children Matthew and Benjamin) his youngest brother Richard (Phyllis) Curtis, and many cousins.
