Obituary of SFC Fredrick Earl Johnson, U.S. Army

Fredrick Johnson, Sr., 81, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away January 5, 2022 in Colorado Springs after an long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born July 22, 1940 to Ray Curley Johnson and Hattie May Pickerd in El Paso, Texas. Fredrick went to high school at Douglas High school in El Paso, Texas. Fredrick served in the United States Army for twenty years as a Motor Transport Operator. He then went on to retire from the City of Colorado Springs where he worked as a power plant technician. Before suffering from Alzheimer's disease, he was very involved in the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where he played Jesus in their yearly Easter play. Fredrick loved dogs, enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. He lit up any room he would enter. Fredrick loved and cared deeply for everyone he knew. He was the epitome of what a good man should be. Fredick lived a full and prosperous life. He will be deeply missed by all those who have had the honor of knowing him.Fredrick is preceded in death by his father, Ray Curley Johnson; mother, Hattie May Andrews; brothers, Paul Johnson, Henry Lee Wynn, and Lee Andrews; his daughter, Cherise Simien; and sons, Reginald Johnson, and Fredrick Johnson, Jr.; and grandsons, Charles Williams, and Michael Upshaw.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his brother, Frank Johnson; and sister. Andrea Andrews; children, Bonita Williams, Deneen Upshaw, Tammi Fredericksen, Toylene Harris, Christopher Johnson, Talia Simien, and Brandi Woods; grandchildren, Tyrese Johnson, Sunie Tatum, Tamika DuBarry, Leslie Tredwell, Dominique Worthington, Jason Johnson, Breanna Upshaw, Lelia Upshaw, and Garry Upshaw, Jr.; and an abundance of great-grandchildren.Memorial contributions in Fredrick's memory may be made to The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
