Obituary of Mark Charles Jacobson
Mark was born December 22, 1960 in Menasha, Wisconsin to The Rev. Robert and Muriel Jacobson. �He passed away January 16, 2022 in Colorado Springs after a lengthy illness.Mark was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, �Joel. �He is survived by his four sisters: �Barbara Stegman (Wayne), Joy Bamberg (Richard), Jackie Hergenreter (Tom), and Patti Littler (Howard.)Born in Wisconsin, he moved to Colorado Springs when his dad became pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. �The family moved again to Lubbock, Texas, where Pastor Jacobson was called to a new parish. �Mark completed his high school there, and attended Texas Tech, completing education and teaching courses.Mark moved back to Colorado, in Grand Junction, where his parents retired. �He began a career in sales and advertising. �Later, he ended his job experiences as a health-care worker in Texas and Colorado Springs.Mark will be fondly remembered for his jovial nature, his smile, and his charm. �Also, for his love of music, and for his outstanding talent as a composer and singer of many country songs. �His beautiful voice was reward when he won the regional "Wrangler Country Showdown" contest in Grand Junction in the late 1980's . �He later �went on to place in the top 3 �by singing his original song, " Honky Tonk Cowboy" in the State-wide "Showdown" in Denver. �He and his wife, Karen moved to Nashville for a timeTo pursue his singing career. �He was also offered a spot to audition for "Star Search" �in Los Angeles in early 90's.Mark was very athletic and was an avid golfer for years. �He loved and raised Golden Retrievers, donating his last beloved dog, Ruby, to a Golden Retriever Rescue when he could no longer care for her.All those who loved Mark will miss, and remember him dearly.There will be no formal service for Mark. �If you would care to remember him through a donation in his name, the family suggests either The National Kidney Foundation, or a Golden Retriever Rescue.
