She was the only girl and next to youngest in a family of five brothers (Guy, Bill, Jim, Ken, and Gary), with four preceding her in death. She had many funny and loving stories about growing up as the only girl with all those boys. She loved them all dearly. They moved to California when she was three years old and then on to Washington. She also lived for a time in New Mexico as a young woman. She moved back to Washington as a young wife and lived there for almost 10 years before moving to Colorado Springs and enjoying that beautiful city for 47 years. She married twice and had three daughters. She worked in several careers as her children grew older and ultimately retired from TRW as an executive secretary. She loved dressing up for work and was always known for her smart style and her shoe collection.Darlene professed her life to Christ at an early age. She loved Jesus and cherished praising the Lord. She was known for her beautiful alto voice. She passed on her love and talent for music to her daughters and grandchildren. Darlene loved reading her Bible, praying for others, spending time with family, and laughing with a mischievous glint in her eye. She loved being out in the sun, enjoying summertime weather, traveling, and spent many years enjoying her version of camping - an RV. She was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed teaching her girls to cook and then especially her grandchildren. She had a great fondness for mysteries, especially Agatha Christie, chocolate, and flowers. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, always their biggest fan, always thinking of them first. Darlene leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughters, Lisa Proctor, Jill McDonald, and Abby VanDeusen; three grandchildren, Rebecca (Lee) Bouldin, Wolfgang VanDeusen, and Ivan VanDeusen; three great-grandchildren, Abigail Bouldin, Benjamin Bouldin, and Susanna Bouldin; her brother, Gary (Lyn) Earp, and many nieces and nephews.
