Obituary of Irving Lynn Barthel

Irving Lynn Barthel, age 70, was born May 30, 1951 in Waukegan, Illinois and passed away on February 2, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.�He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Barthel and Wanda (Lain) Barthel.Lynn is survived by his brother, Russell Lain Barthel; nephew, Jonathan Russell Barthel; niece, Kirstin (Eric) Neese; loving partner, Jennifer Smith, and her children, Aiden, Virginia, and Gavin.He spent his entire working life with the Lake County Highway Department, retiring as the Fleet and Facilities Manager. Lynn had a sharp wit and was a friend to everyone he met. A kind, gentle, caring soul always looking to help others. His many interests included fishing, hiking, golf, cooking, cross country skiing, reading, shooting at the range, Nascar racing, and Bears Packers games. His trips to his property in northern Wisconsin with family and friends were a major feature of his life. Lynn became a friend of Bill W. in 1985, and remained so for the rest of his life.�The family wants to give a special thanks to the staff at Medallion Post Acute Rehabilitation Facility in Colorado Springs for their wonderful care of Lynn.
