Uncle Verdi always had a special place in my heart! A memory I will always remember him saying anything worthwhile doesn't come easy and without hard work. He was always so welcoming and kind. I am blessed to have known him and to be a part of the Overton family. So happy that I was able to celebrate his 90th birthday with him. Rest In Peace Uncle Verdi, you will be missed by many. Love Sandi Overton

Verdi, you were always very kind to me when I came for a visit. I will miss the heartfelt way you greeted me up on that mountain of yours. Life will not be the same for the people who love you, without you in their lives. But I know that you will always be watching over them, as you sit with the angels and reminisce about the good times you shared with your children, your grandchildren, and your great-grandchildren. You'll wait patiently with God until the day you will be together with them again, sharing that wonderful smile and the sense of humor you always had when others were around. Your kindness and your acceptance of me as the sister of your "adopted daughter" Susan, will remain a long-lasting memory in my heart. Watch over your loved ones and know that you will always be a part of their lives. Your love was boundless and full of life. May eternity with the celestial beings always fill your soul with the same happiness you shared with others while you spent that limited time on earth. Your impact was massive in the short time you were with us. It is now God's turn to shower you with His love. You will be missed!

Dad, where to start? Your loving smile and your laugh, your endless wisdom and timeless advice always helped us to find our way. You shared your stories and all your dreams. We'll always think of you smiling no matter how tough life seems. Your heart was so kind and true we wish everyone on earth could be blessed to have a dad like you. You were in a class all of your own. Because of all the love you gave us and all the memories we've shared you will always be with us in our hearts. We Love You Dad!

You were a world class man Uncle Verdi. Ever since I wanted to be in healthcare you were always cheering me on. You always said you wanted me to be your doctor. And when I went into nursing instead you smiled and said okay you can be my nurse. You were always everyone's biggest fan for pursing their dreams. I remember meeting you and Aunt Betty down at the Air Force Academy the day Chad jumped out of a plane. And even though he obviously wasn't going to be a paratrooper (sorry Chad it's true) you still cheered like he was the best jumper out there. Because that's what you did. You stood up for us and cheered for us in everything. I will miss you Uncle Verdi. And I'm so blessed to have had the pleasure to know and love you.

It still feels so unreal that you're truly gone Grandpa. There is so many things I wish I could relive just to be with you one more time. You've made such an impact on not only me but the entire Overton Family. You've set such an amazing standard for me in life and taught me how to be the best man that I could be and most importantly showed me how to be the best husband in the future with how you always treated grandma and loved eachother unconditionally for 73 years . I wish to be just like you Grandpa. I miss going up to your mountain and all the things that are included with it and all the amazing memories i have growing up. From you showing me how to shoot a BB gun for the first time, to as a kid swinging on the butt swing, and watching the bird house when you hated when the squirrels would get in and eat all the bird food instead. Just wishing we could have dinner with you and Grandma at the table just one more time. I miss sitting in the living room while you're on your chair telling us all these amazing stories on how the world used to be. The hardest part is the world was a better place with you here Grandpa. You've left such a huge impact on my life and will continuously be in my heart. There's so many things that were left unsaid that I wish i could tell you. One thing I never got to say is to thank you one more time, for being the man you were to my mom. You loved her unconditionally and proved to her that she deserves the world and more. Thank you Grandpa. Thank you for being the biggest influence in my life growing up. We all love and miss you more than words can describe. I love you Grandpa…❤️

Such a hard tribute to write...... so much I want to say and don't know how to say it. You were such an amazing man in my life, you taught me to never accept anything less than a great man in my life. I still hope that maybe some day I can find a love that you always thought I deserved! My three boys are just a great example of the piece of the legacy that you created! Even though it was just me raising them, my family is what helped shaped them into to being the great young men that they are today. The love that you have instilled on me and my entire family has taught me what real love is. There is nothing that could ever live up to that! When it comes to memories, there are just so many. You always made sure I felt loved! I have always been your little girl and I always will be. The memories that we have I will cherish forever. I can't believe you are gone, maybe it's because I know that you will never be gone, you will always be watching over me and my boys! Fly high Grandpa! I love you so much!
