Obituary of Parilee Jean Doak

Parilee Jean Doak, age 92, left this life peacefully on February 24, 2022. Parilee was born, the eldest of six children, on January 13, 1930, in Granite City, Illinois, to Perry and Addie Lee (Singer) Helton. Her childhood was spent in Granite City as well as Wheeler, Texas. At the time she graduated high school her family moved from Texas to Kutch, Colorado. After attending two years of college at West Text State (Texas A&M) she returned to Colorado. While living in Colorado Springs and working at Alexander Film, a friend arranged a blind date with the man who would be her future husband, Harry Doak. They married in November, 1951 and went on to have three children. They spent their working years on their ranch in the Lincoln/Crowley County area. In 2014, she and Harry decided it was time to slow down' and moved from Crowley County to Falcon, Colorado. Parilee enjoyed years working in various occupations; as a long-term substitute teacher for Calhan School district, as Principal's secretary at Crowley County High School, and clerking at Crowley County Assessor's Office. After retiring from full-time work she enjoyed summers helping at Manzanola Feeds. She was sweet, meticulous, dignified, and thrived on learning. She will forever be remembered as a lady. She had a love of cooking and creating her own clothes as well as her children's. Her home was always filled with the aroma of freshly baked sweets (and there was always a pan of enchiladas in the freezer!). Above all, she will be remembered for the absolute love she had for Harry. Her later years were affected by dementia, however, she remained in her home where she was always laughing, singing, enjoying her guests, and never lost recognition of those around her.Parilee is survived by her three children, Harry, Jr. (Lisa), Cherie (Bob), and Jim (Lenna); as well as twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her parents; and two siblings, brother, Roy and sister, Loretta Schwartz.
