Obituary of Annet Galoust Cornell
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Annet Cornell. She was born in Tehran, Iran on February 21, 1943. Annet had two older siblings, Art and Mariette Basil. She came to the United States in 1963 and was followed by several other family members soon after. Annet was married to James Cornell who passed in January of 2019. She has three children, Mark, Chris, Nannette and four grandchildren, Christopher, Christian, Eva and Noa. Annet spent her career as a ESL "English Second Language" teacher, where she enjoyed working with children that had language barriers. Holidays were often spent in Los Angeles visiting her brother, sister, nieces and nephews. Annet spent some of her favorite years in retirement enjoying the warmth of sunny Palm Springs, California. She was never found alone, was often surrounded by friends and family. The activities she looked forward to most were watching Bill Maher and playing Rummikub with the girls. Although Annet had cancer for ten years, she never let it hold her back. It wasn't until 2020 when the cancer started to progress that she decided to live with her daughter in Colorado.Annet lived a full life filled with love and laughter, but her true passion was being a grandmother. There was no greater joy then spending time with all her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The Independence Center, https://www.theindependencecenter.org/get-involved/donate/. This is a non-profit organization focused on helping disabled individuals that her daughter and son-in-law work for. She was very proud of their careers!
