Obituary of Jack Wayne Ammons
Jack Wayne Ammons, 70, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Jack was born February 8, 1952 to Cleo and Madeline Ammons in Longview, Washington.�His family made some moves from Washington, California, Arkansas, and Arizona.� They spent some time on a farm in Arkansas which Jack loved and later became a huge Arkansas Razorback fan.�His parents also worked for the BIA and Jack lived on the Navajo reservation for awhile.Jack graduated from Gallup high school in 1970 and was the kicker for the football team his senior year. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern New Mexico University. He played tennis for his fraternity SAE and was a member of ROTC.After graduation Jack attended Basic Officer Leadership course and received orders for active duty in the Army.�His orders were for Germany and he and his wife were stationed in Bamberg, Germany.�Jack was a Military Intelligence Officer with the Armor Division. He was also Chief of the Battle Simulations Center later.�He coordinated and administrated computerized, automated, and manual battle simulations. Jack coordinated various brigade and lower level simulation and training exercises. He held a Top Secret Security Clearance.While stationed in Germany, Jack and his wife Debbie traveled to many other countries, and their first child, Brian, was born in Nuremberg. After three years in Germany, Jack and his family spent six months at Fort Knox for training and then received orders for Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their second child, Heather, was born at Fort Carson. Jack spent one year stationed in Korea, as well. After the service, Jack worked for GTECH as a Customer Service Representative and later for Nielsen Media Research as a Field Representative.Jack was first and foremost a family man. He and Debbie have been married for forty-five years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and would do anything for them.�Jack and his family took a trip somewhere every summer and many camping trips.�All with many precious memories.After retirement and a love for baseball, Jack and his wife decided to visit different baseball parks.�The Los Angeles Dodgers was his favorite team. Through the years Jack loved playing tennis, racquetball, basketball, softball, and ping pong.�He played basketball and softball in the church league, and coached the softball team. He coached Little League for our children growing up. He attended all their activities and school programs.�Jack took them bike riding, and played basketball and tennis with them. His children were the light of his life.
