Obituary of Linda Sue Byars

Linda Byars was liberated from this world moving into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior early in the morning of March 4, 2022. This confirmed to her friends, family, and neighbors, who she loved around the world, that God truly worked everything together for her good because she loved Him and she had been called according to His purpose. Having battled Parkinson's for a decade and dementia for the past four years, we have all been blessed by the knowledge that this reunion with Jesus was coming. Linda was born to Melton and Francis Arnett on January 23, 1951 in Austin, Texas. Ever since, she has been singing, talking, and laughing with a beautiful Texas accent, and sharing her love of that great state with everyone she met. Linda lost her son, Micah Winters to Cystic Fibrosis after four short years. Following Micah's passing, with the help of an Air Force Chaplain that she had assisted during Micah's illness, she then adopted her daughter, Sunshine, in 1979. As a successful decorator and commercial office leasing agent she was settled and happy in San Antonio, Texas.In 1982, three weeks after meeting Bill Byars, they were married, and she became the unifying force in a new family of seven when she and her daughter joined Bill and his four children. Linda's wonderful energy and caring heart served the family and her loving God through three Air Force assignments in Europe, and multiple assignments in the United States. She served others and selflessly shared her faith, her compassion, and her passion for life with thousands. Linda made each person feel special as a Stephen Minister with the European Protestant Women of the Chapel, as the squadron "mother" for 350 Americans serving on a Belgium Air Base, as the tour guide and human resources manager for the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, as a key member of USAA's People Services group, and as the epitome of a loving wife and mother. While Parkinson's and dementia chipped away, the impact was overshadowed by her high energy and loving spirit.Linda's passion for life coupled with love for her family, friends, fellow Harley riders, and her Christian brothers and sisters continued and was added to her love for the staff and residents of the Springs Ranch Memory Care facility. In return she enjoyed the love of those people and brightened their days with quotes from her voluminous repertoire of Texas wit. She wasn't very big, but she was always hard to miss in every setting that was graced by her presence. Linda's parents and son, Micah, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Bill; her son, James of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her daughter, Sonja, and grandson, Kyle from Castle Rock, Colorado; her son, David, and his wife, Nichole, along with his daughter, Ramaiah from Palestine, Texas; and from Georgia, her daughter, Sunshine, Sunshine's husband, Jayson, and their son, Xander, along with their son, Peyton from Colorado Springs, Colorado; in addition to her "adopted" daughter, Sarah Snyder of Colorado Springs.
