Obituary of John James Beckman

John James Beckman, 70, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away in his home with his family and the loving care of Bristol Hospice, on March 5, 2022. He was born December 13, 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska to George and Mary (Mountain) Beckman. He grew up in Casper Wyoming and attended Natrona County High School through his junior year. His family moved in his senior year where he graduated from Northglenn High School. John attended Aims Community College and The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado where he received his degree in Business.John had many talents and was very creative. He began working on and painting cars. He used his handyman skills of welding, woodworking, to name a few, when he worked for Weld County Buildings and Grounds in Greeley. One of his greatest creations was designing and building a brass Teller Window and Elevator Door at the courthouse there.His creative skills and business sense continued as he became the owner and operator of American Turf and Tree Care for 37 years in Colorado Springs (1983 - 2021). He was a member of the Colorado Springs Landscaping and Maintenance Professionals and the Better Business Bureau.John enjoyed and played many sports. He played football, baseball, and hockey. His hockey team earned the National championship title and he was named MVP at the USAC/RS National Junior Olympic 93" tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma.He also has been a huge Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche fan. John was a gentle, happy, loving, husband and father who had tremendous drive, ambition and purpose. He was our protector, provider and our rock. We wish him eternal peace and so thankful his pain is no longer endured. We cherish our memories, his laugh and his presence will be sorely missed. Until we meet again our hearts will hold you close. We love you now and forever. John is survived by his wife, Ramona Beckman; his two children, Matthew Beckman and Rebecca Beckman (Jason) House; two grandchildren, Brooklyn Northcutt, Austin Northcutt; one step grandson, Stephen House of Colorado Springs; his two brothers and two sisters, Michael Beckman of Silver Spring, Maryland, Marilyn (Rocky) Bowcutt of Winchester, Tennessee, Arthur (Nancy )Beckman of Bloomington, Illinois, and Brenda (Bob) Markel of Vinita, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Sherrie Woods of Greeley, Colorado; three nieces, Tammy Bowcutt, Audra Bowcutt (Sean O'Rourke), and Melissa Woods (Bart) Young; three nephews, Jason (Logan)Beckman, Scott (Emily) Beckman, Bradley Woods; and one great-niece and five great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers-in-law, Jay Woods and Ronald Steffensen. The family wishes to extend our gratitude to Bristol Hospice for their loving care and support.
