Obituary of Edith Marie Hansen

Edith Marie Hansen, 83, of Colorado Springs, and a long time resident of Manitou Springs, Colorado for over 55 years. Passed away March 11, 2022 in her home under medical care given by her daughter Dawn and Bristol Hospice.Edith was born October 3, 1938 to Leonard and Dorothy (Thill) Wittrock in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They moved to Flandreau, South Dakota in 1950 and she attended Vance Country School, graduated from Flandreau High School in 1957. After graduating she attended Community College in Brookings, South Dakota for nursing until she met her husband and married. Edith was married June 7, 1958, in Flandreau, South Dakota to Mr. Raymond S. Hansen of Pipestone, Minnesota . After marriage the couple moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she worked as a nursing assistant for a local family practice doctor. After the birth of her first two children Brenda and Tom, the couple moved to Colorado. They decided to reside and start their business Raymond Hansen Excavating in Manitou Springs, Colorado. While helping run the business, she also worked evenings as a phone operator at Mountain Bell in Colorado Springs. She worked there for many years until she became pregnant with her third child Dawn. She lived in Manitou Springs until 2019, when she decided to sell the family property and bought a townhouse in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She became active with two friend groups the Widows and Widowers and the Travel Group for singles.�Edith was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and friend she will dearly be missed by all . She truly enjoyed spending time with all her friends, loved her dog Buddy, and cherished time with her daughter Dawn when they went on small adventures such as day trips to Cripple Creek to gamble, Mountain drives, or just shopping together. She also loved to visit her two oldest children Brenda and Tom in Montana . Edith is survived by her brother, Leonard "Windy" (Elaine) Green of Plant City, Florida; two daughters, Brenda (Tommy) Tyma� of Stevensville, Montana, and Dawn Hansen, of Colorado Springs Colorado; son, Thomas Hansen� of Kalispell, Montana; four granddaughters, Melissa (Walt) Lovato of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lauren Humble of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lee (Eugene) Hansen of Kalispell, Montana , and Breanna Kemena of Denver, Colorado; six great grandchildren, Tommy, Braiden, Bella,� Hot Rod, Shelby, and Chase. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond S. Hansen; her mother, Dorothy L.
