Obituary of Philip Dewayne Trease
Philip Dewayne Trease passed away on March 18, 2022 in his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado at age 78. He was born in Picher, Oklahoma to the loving Commadore Millard "C.M." and Norma Jean Trease. Phil graduated from Ashland High School in Ashland, Kansas in 1961. He went on to become a professional welder and was highly respected in the welding field, earning the highest of certifications, in his profession. He married Peggy (Edmonston) Trease in 1964, and they had two children, Starla and Corey. As Phil raised his kids in Dodge City, Kansas he became a business owner and owned The Village Sport, a sporting goods store in Dodge City. Phil later divorced and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1985, where he built a life to be enjoyed near the mountains. He owned and operated an HVAC Company for many years. Phil worked hard to retire early, with the sole intention to follow and support the many pursuits of his grandchildren. To know Phil was to love him. He could tease with the best of them but when he teased, you felt the greatest depths of his love. He was fiercely independent and the most loyal confidant. A storyteller, Phil was, and boy were his stories grandiose and full of life. He was a man who stood upon principle and faith. He was always just a phone call away. Phil was the family man. He would say often that strength, especially his strength, came from family. This strength was beautifully evident in the way in which he supported, adored and treasured his parents, brothers, children and most especially, his grandchildren. They were the joys of his life, and he, theirs. Phil ate, slept and breathed Oklahoma Sooners. He was the one to call on gameday. He is the epitome of "born and bred". His spirit will surely be felt in every resounding beat of the Oklahoma Fight Song. He is preceded in death by his adoring parents, C.M. and Norma Jean Trease. Phil is survived by his daughter, Starla (Ted) Baker; his son, Corey Trease; his brother, Randall (Joyce) Trease; his brother, Richard (Nancy) Trease; his grandchildren, Alexander Trease, Jonathon Trease, Cannon Baker, Ty Baker and Haleigh Dufaud, and Kelind (Allen) Thomas; his great-grandchild, Baker Thomas; his nieces and nephews, Sondra (Brett) Harrington, Rich (Carmen) Trease, Chad (Natalie) Trease, Ryan (Shay) Trease, and Shane (Sheila) Trease. They say there is only one Oklahoma, and there is only one Philip D. Trease.
