Obituary of Ernest "Bud" C. Purling

Ernest passed peacefully on March 20, 2022 at Lark Springs Memory Care at the age of 92 years.He was born in Joplin, Missouri on August 26, 1929 to Ted and Aletha (Keech) Purling He grew up in Clay Center, Kansas as one of eight siblings. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy as a service member of the USS Shields 596 for four years. He became a Union Carpenter for the next twenty years. Bud met his sister's good friend, Connie Kennedy and they were married in 1956. He and Connie just celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary March 10, of this year. Bud and Connie had two daughters, Kelley Fazzone, and Tracy Troxell. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1969 and became successful motel operators in the city. Bud also became a successful realtor while running the motels. They owned many motels in Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, New Mexico, and Wyoming. They retired in 1998 and traveled the country.Bud was a Al Kaly Shriner at Tejon Lodge #0104 and 32nd Degree Mason. He is preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; and two son-in-laws, Jim Fazzone, and John Troxell.Bud is survived by his wife, Connie (Kennedy) Purling; two daughters, Kelley Fazzone, and Tracy Troxell; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Troxell, and Codi Troxell; as well as two great grandchildren, Seth, and Sylas Troxell. Last, but not least, a big thank you to our family and friends for the cards and prayers while Bud was in the hospital, Medallion Senior Care and Lark Springs the past one and a half years. A special thank you to our daughters who gave so much time to the care of their dad.Services will be at a later date in Clay Center Kansas.
