Obituary of Mary Margaret Schumm

Mary Margaret Schumm, age 69, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2022, surrounded by family. Mary was born in Dublin, Ireland on May 2, 1952, she was adopted when she was four months old by her parents, Laurence and Vivian Bloxsom. Mary spent most of her childhood in Colorado Springs and graduated from St. Mary's High School. She married her husband, Ron, in 1970 and they enjoyed almost fifty-two years of marriage. They spent their early years together in Salida, Colorado raising their two children, Clint and Aimee, before moving their family back to Colorado Springs. After raising her children, Mary jumped into a career in bookkeeping and eventually retired from Child Development Center. Mary loved reading, cooking, baking, shopping, antiquing, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying a good glass of wine. She and Ron enjoyed traveling both stateside and abroad, including two trips to her beloved Ireland. Mary loved to spend time with family at their mountain property. She was a lifelong devout Catholic and the church played a very important role in her life. Above all, Mary was happiest sitting around with family celebrating holidays (especially Christmas!) and sharing stories.Mary was a fighter, surviving a difficult battle with small-cell lung cancer. She beat the odds and lived an additional ten years after her diagnosis, allowing her extra time to make precious memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, Laurence L. and Vivian P. (Bartosovsky) Bloxsom; and her brother, Gary Michael Bloxsom.
