Obituary of Margaret "Peggy" R. Wormuth
In the very early hours of April 14, 2022, Margaret Ross Wormuth peacefully passed away in her sleep. Born in California, on October 31, 1942, to parents, David and Margaret Ross, her maiden name was Margaret "Peggy" Jane Ross. Known and loved by her family as Peggy Jane or PJ, she was 79 years old at the time of her death. Peggy is survived by her two sons, Pontus and Paul; three grandsons, Oscar, Aleksander, and Montgomery; her sisters, Montine and Claudia; and her brother, Steve; as well as her loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.She received�her bachelor of teaching degree from Mount Holyoke College in 1964 and her master of teaching degree from Columbia University in 1967.Peggy was widowed to Gus Wormuth. Their home of fifty years was in Larchmont, New York, where Peggy was an active member of Saint John's Episcopal Church. Peggy was a teacher in the New York public school system for over forty years, specializing in children with autism. Peggy formerly retired from education in 2018.Known for her love of children and a strong penchant for sweets, Peggy enjoyed a rich life of very close friendships, spanning decades. She was adored by her family and friends for being kind, loving, understanding, intelligent, sweet, and brave.In 2020, Peggy was diagnosed as having Lewy body dementia. After the death of her husband, Gus in 2021, Peggy moved out to Colorado to be close to her sons. She spent her final year in comfort and loving care at A Robin's Nest assisted living facility.The most loyal of friends, the sweetest of grandmothers, Peggy will be dearly missed by all whom she touched with her warmth, love, and joy. May she rest in eternal peace.
