Obituary of MSgt, Ulises "Sam" Borrero Len, USAF

Ulises was born on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico in Ponce. Boricua por siempre. He grew up on the island and when he was 21, he joined the United States Air Force. Ulises served 22 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force as a Fire Fighter Chief. He served his country loyally and devotedly. He traveled the world serving, and did numerous short and long tours to countries around the world. He embarked on his best journey when he arrived in Del Rio, Texas where he met his wife, Dolores. They met in Del Rio and celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary in April of 2022. Ulises and Dolores have three children: Derrick, Shannon, and Michael. He loved his family more than anything in the world and was even more over-the-moon when his granddaughter, Vivian, was born. He is loved by his family and is remembered by being the best Dad in the world. To many, Ulises was "Instructor Sam"- a funny, charismatic, and powerful Kempo instructor. He joined Universal Kempo Karate in 1997 and left, but found himself back to Kempo in 2003. Instructor Sam got his daughter into Kempo in 2004, and shortly after, his youngest son and wife followed suit. "A family that kicks together, stays together!" Instructor Sam loved his Kempo Ohana and was always ready to listen or talk to anyone. His favorite part of Kempo was self-defense and brick breaking. Nevertheless, his favorite thing he gained from Kempo was the Kempo Ohana that came with it. He loved everyone in Kempo and considered them all his family. Every year, he looked forward to reuniting with the Ohana for seminar, and it was the highlight of his year. Every job he did, he did with his heart and soul. Ulises will be remembered by his smile, warmth, and passion. He loved meeting new people and he loved his family, Church family, Kempo Family, his children's friends and their families, and anyone who wanted to be apart of his life. He was the best husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. He will forever be in all of our hearts. Ulises is survived by his wife, Dolores; sons, Derrick and Michael; daughter, Shannon (Anthony) Zellner; granddaughter, Vivian Zellner; sister, Abdia Borrero; nephews, Jorge Ulises Lopez and Nephtaly Borrero; brother, Noel (Sylvia Espada) Borrero; his numerous nieces and nephews; and cat, Coco.
