Obituary of Robert Barstow Abell

Robert "Bob" Barstow Abell departed his earthly life on May 10, 2022 in Arvada, Colorado to join his family in heaven.He was born July 8, 1933 in Burlington, Vermont to Mabel and Wesley Abell.Bob married the love of his life, Lois Ann Gray September 11, 1954.He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1956 with a B.S. in Business. After college, Bob joined the Army and later the Vermont National Guard to obtain the rank of Major with twenty-eight years of service. He traveled the world working for International Business Machines of Essex Junction, Vermont as a purchasing agent and retired after thirty-one years in 1993.He continued to travel the world on adventures after retiring and often landed where ever his kids and grandkids were living. He enjoyed the outdoors which included, sailing his boat on Lake Champlain, hiking and skiing the green mountains of Vermont and later the mountains of Colorado. He enthusiastically volunteered his support to the maple sugaring season at the Green Mountain Audubon Center in Huntington, Vermont for many years, where he also picked up the hobby of birding and devoted more time to photography.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel Nutting and Wesley T. Abell; sisters, Althea (John) Carlucci, Marjorie (Walter) Swift, June Abell; his twin brother, Thomas Abell; his son, Eric O. Abell; and nephew, William Swift.Bob leaves behind his beloved wife, Lois G. Abell of Arvada, Colorado; son, Scott (Teresa) Abell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Jane (Sally) Abell of Arvada, Colorado; grandsons, Christopher (Terrin) Abell of Breckenridge, Colorado, Matthew Abell of Bend, Oregon; granddaughters, Nicole (Jon) Kullander and Danielle (William III) Skeele of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great-grandsons, Christian, Riley and Gabriel Kullander; great-granddaughters, Abigail Kullander and Ezra Rey Abell; nieces, Laurel Swift, Jessica Betz, and Toni Carlucci; and nephews, James (Diane) Swift, David Carlucci and Michael (Mary) Carlucci.A special thanks to all of the caring staff at Lutheran Medical Center, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.He will be greatly missed by all.
