Obituary of Betty Jean McKee

Betty Jean (Stringfellow) McKee, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on May 14, 2022. She was surrounded by friends and family after a brief illness at Memorial Hospital Central and Colorado Springs. Betty was born on July 6, 1953 in Pueblo, Colorado to Lee and Rosalee Gore. She was a homemaker. Betty loved everything beautiful she loved sunshine warm days and flowers, lilacs were her favorite, and art. She had a lot of tree and flower paintings and had a knack for making things beautiful, she also had the most remarkable and beautiful handwriting, and she could color more beautifully than anybody I've ever seen color. She loved crafts, cacti, butterflies, ladybugs, and planting flowers. She enjoyed bicycling, tetherball, and other sports. Betty loved and valued time with her family. She enjoyed self-help books spiritual books and she loved her tarot cards. Betty additionally loved fashion mostly earrings and beauty. She always had to have her lipstick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore S. McKee, who passed away September 16, 2013. Betty was a loved and valued mother, sister, and loving grandmother and great-grandmother that lovingly adored and treasured her grandchildren. They were the brightest light in her life. She is survived by her daughter, Misty D. McKee; son, Andrew S. McKee; daughter, Alisa M. Wells, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; granddaughters, Keyonna M. Deckert, Leigha D. McKee, and Leslie D. McKee; grandson, Isaiah M. Manzanares; son-in-law, Frankie J. Manzanares; and her great-grandchildren, Aiden V. Hoge, and Aria V. Weeks, all of Colorado Spring, Colorado. There are family members in here that are unable to be mentioned that they are not forgotten and they are loved. She is also survived by Carrie Rush who was like a sister to her. She was blessed to become part of the Flynn family in bent county who are immensely appreciated and loved and nothing short of our family. Betty had more than her share of tough times but she was just as tough and admirable for it. Her sweet face, beautiful smile, and charismatic sense of humor will be thought about every single day. She will be sorely missed and every years lilacs blooms and beautiful scented breezes will touch our souls with her spirit and memory. Her brief illness was a selfless three month long brutal and debilitating fight to stay with her loved ones. She wanted more time with her grandchildren and family and more Christmases. She loves the beauty the colors the lights and the togetherness of family. We are so happy that she's no longer in pain. She was looking forward to seeing lost loved ones and friends along the way and she was always proud of the fun fact that she was related to the singer, Lesley Gore. Rest in peace Betty, Mama! We all love you so very much!!
