Obituary of Deborah Berwick Downey
Deborah "Debbie", was born March 11, 1952 to James Berwick and Helen Berwick. She was a lifelong Colorado resident, graduating from Wasson High School ('70) and University of Northern Colorado ('74).�A lifelong educator, she instructed special education and math students in Widefield School District. Following�retirement she worked with soldiers at Ft. Carson, helping them improve their math skills.�Debbie was active at First Presbyterian Church, PEO Chapter C, and volunteered in the community. She enjoyed friends and family, golfing, and travel. Adventurous, Debbie embraced life to the fullest, kayaking the Lower Kali Gandaki River in Nepal, going on an African safari, and bicycling across the southern United States (Pacific to Atlantic). She loved being outdoors and caring for her yard. ��Debbie was preceded�in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Doug Downey; stepdaughter, daughter, Katy (Jeremy) Gibe; stepson, Ryan (Carrie) Shiverdecker; grandchildren, Blake and Spencer; and her siblings, Cindi Murphy, Missy (Mike) Graef, and Doug (Marie) Berwick; and their families.�Memorial Service, 11:00AM, Thursday, June 9, 2022, First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Debbie's memory to Compassion International or Assistance League's Bargain Box.
