Obituary of Irene Gale Wiersma

Irene Gale Wiersma, 80 years old, went to be with the Lord June 1, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born January 23, 1942 to Alfred and Jennie Giacomi in San Pedro, California. Irene went to High School at Bellflower High and graduated in 1959. Her senior year she was awarded with the honor of being dairy princess. In 1960 she fell in love and married Earl Wiersma and they started their family shortly after. The next thirty-three years she had a life loving her Lord, family, husband, children and grandchildren. Earl and she owned several dairies over the years. In 1977 Earl and Irene moved from California to Ellicott, Colorado and later to Calhan, Colorado where they lived and worked on the dairy they owned there. Her greatest pride was being a mother and grandmother. She passed on her love for the Lord to all of her children and grandchildren. When Earl passed away in 1993 she went to business trade school and later became a weight loss counselor supervisor in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She enjoyed her work, but after ten short years she was able to retire and was able to spend her quality time with her family and friends. Irene enjoyed going to church where she donated a lot of her time. Some of the other things she loved to do included singing and dancing, painting, making dolls, shopping, and most all spending time with her family. Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Wiersma; father and mother, Alfred and Jennie Giacomi. Irene is survived by her sister, Phyllis Noordman; brother, Richard Giacomi; sons, Steve (Tammy) Wiersma, and John Wiersma; daughter, Audra (Johnny) Wiersma; grandchildren, Steven (Sara) Wiersma, Casey (Morgan) Wiersma, Amy (Dustin) Barnes, Michael (Amanda) Goss, Mathew Goss, Katelyn Wiersma and Cortni Wiersma; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Charlee, and McKenlee Barnes, Paisley and Mesa Wiersma, and Caden and Olivia Goss.
