Obituary of Neil Thomas Groth

Neil Groth, 82, died June 1, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family in Colorado Springs, Colorado.He was born March 30, 1940 to Harvey and Ruth Groth in Gary, Indiana.Neil met Linda, his high school sweetheart, at Tolleston High School in Gary, Indiana and they were married September 12, 1959. He received his hair stylist license in Chicago, Illinois. He had a hair salon behind their home in Merrillvile, Indiana and continued his stylist career when he relocated his family to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Other jobs included being a Fireman on the railroad in Indiana, sales positions in car and automotive parts and components, beauty supplies, and wall vacuums. He was involved in many organizations including: Masonic Lodge El Paso #13 since 1976, Independent Order of Foresters where he became a Chief Ranger, Pikes Peak Sports Car Club where he raced with his wife and JC Chuck Wagon where he was part of the JC Posse.Neil enjoyed taking cruises and camping in their motor home with his wife. He went on a mission trip with Mountain View Presbyterian Church to help build a church in La Romana, Dominican Republic. Neil also received enjoyment from animals and volunteered with Dream Power Animal Rescue and loved their dogs, Scrapper and Scruffy. His passions, besides his family, were watching Westerns, especially with John Wayne in them, and 50's Rock and Roll music. Neil had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jack Groth. Neil was survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Linda "Lin" Groth; daughters, Sandra Groth and Sheryl (James) Poveda; two granddaughters, Nicole (Pat) Gennetta and Kristal (Tyler) Cox; and two great-granddaughters Chloe and Skylar Pass.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Advanced Health Care Hospice for their loving care and countless hours they spent with Neil and the Family.Memorial Service, 11:00AM, Saturday, June 25, 2022, Central United Methodist Church, 4373 Galley Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80915.Celebration of Life immediately following Memorial Service in the fellowship hall.
