Obituary of Rita June Schuler

Rita June Schuler, 89, died on Monday, June 6, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born Rita June Mahaffey, April 17, 1933 in Sterling, Colorado, where she made lifelong friends. Shortly after graduating from high school, she moved to Northern California where she met and married Frank Reneau. They had three children together. When her children were older, she returned to the workforce. She worked for medical billing firms and held various positions in the health care industry.Above all else, Rita cherished her family and friends. When Frank passed away in 1996, she moved back to Colorado to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and lifelong friends. As was always the case with Rita, she made new friends in Colorado Springs, Colorado as well.In early 2006, she met Clayton Schuler at a Widow/Widower gathering, fell in love, and were married later that same year. When asked what it was about each other they loved, Rita would say, "I asked God to bring someone like him into my life. Clayton is such a gentleman." Clayton said it was her smile that caught his eye. They celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary last year. Over the last decade of her life, she had a number of serious health issues and demonstrated a strong will to live. In her last days, Rita was surrounded by her family. She passed with loved ones at her side.She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Grace and Clarence; her first husband, Frank; three brothers, Clarence, Jr., William, and Donald; and two sisters, Betty and Arlene.Rita is survived by her husband, Clayton; two sisters, Mary and Glenda; daughter, Karen (Dave); sons. Mark, and Tom (Diana); as well as five granddaughters; three grandsons-in-law; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
