Obituary of Karin Candies
Karin Candies, 75, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. She was born to Wilhelm and Ilse (Horche) Blanke on October 30, 1946, in Bokeloh, Germany. Karin graduated from Berufsschule (Vocational School) in Wunstorf, Germany. Karin met her husband, Willie D. Candies, in 1965, while he was serving with the United States Air Force in Wunstorf, Germany. They married on October 24, 1969, and raised two daughters together. She enjoyed traveling to other countries with her family and teaching her daughters to learn about the culture and history of another place. Karin moved from Germany to Colorado in 1988, after her husband retired from the service. She became a U.S. citizen on September 15, 1997.She cherished animals and nature. She was passionate about dogs and was a longtime supporter of the American Schutzhund/IGP Club dog sport. Karin trained and titled her German Shepherd dogs, over the years, for the sport: Huda, Nando, Uno, and Niko. Although she no longer competed, Karin continued to train dogs with her friend Pete and loyally walked her dog Jago, rain or shine. Her children remember her as quite the history buff. Whether it be US or World History, she had an answer. She was artistically creative, kind, and a gentle soul. She will be immensely missed and always loved.Karin was preceded in death by her mother, Ilse Blanke and father, Wilhelm Blanke of Bokeloh, Germany; and nephew, Marcel Blanke. She is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of fifty-three years, Willie D. Candies of Colorado Springs; daughter, Monique Candies of Aurora, Colorado; daughter Nicole (Dion) Douglas of Chandler, Arizona; three grandchildren, Alexia Kaehler, Julian Candies, and Ava Douglas; brother, Wilfred Blanke of Lneburg, Germany; nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Jago.
