Obituary of MSgt Melissa Ann Archuleta, U.S. Air Force,
MSgt Melissa Archuleta, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away June 11, 2022, after courageously battling with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Melissa enlisted in the United States Air Force, served twenty-one years as a Law Office Superintendent of the 21st Space Wing Legal Office. As part of her service, Melissa received the Air Force BMT Honor Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three devices, and many other awards and ribbons. After retirement, Melissa served as a civil servant as a Paralegal Specialist for nineteen years. After retiring as a civil servant, The Archuleta Conference Room was named in her honor for forty years of steadiest and selfless service to the United States Air Force. Melissa left a legacy and touched the hearts of many, after her passing the family received overwhelming condolences that shared beautiful tributes: "We are so very sad to her of the news of your mother's passing. We are sending you much love and prayers. Mrs. Archuleta was my first LOM at Peterson and was a true mentor and friend. She will be in my heart always and will NEVER be forgotten!""She was such a great person!!!" "I always thought your mom was strong, independent, professional, and a loving woman.""She was such a wonderful person and one of my favorite friends. I will miss her so much.""She was such an inspiring woman and, in my mind, a pioneer for women in the USAF legal field. While I don't know enough about her resume, I know she inspired many who followed behind her. She was amazing and so intelligent. I really looked up to her."Melissa is preceded in death by her parents, Max and Blanche Childs; and brother, Tim. She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-nine years, Reuben Archuleta; children, Chris (Cathy), Amber (Tim); four grandchildren whom she adored, Stephen (Marin), Sarah, Katie, and Emma; one great-grandson, Wesley; sister, Barb; and brother, Jerry. Per the family's wishes, casual attire is requested. In lieu of flowers the family has asked memorial contributions be made to the ALS Rocky Mountain Chapter http://www.alsaco.org in honor of Melissa Archuleta.
