Mike and family, so sorry for your loss. I served with Lia (and Mike) in 1982-1985 while at USCG Marine Safety Office, Hampton Roads, VA. She was an outstanding petty officer, always upbeat with a positive outlook. I enjoyed working with her. As her supervisor there, I can attest that everything posted about her performance at work during that period is true and I am not surprised at how much she had gone on to achieve, accomplish, and contribute elsewhere. Although I served with her for relative short tour of duty in such a long career, I recall her warmth and friendliness most. She will be missed. May she rest in peace. Capt. Marv Pontiff (USCG, Ret)

Mike, Tommy, Emilia and families- we send our love and share the heaviness of the sudden passing of Lia. Lia had a remarkable presence-one of goodness, strength and grace. I appreciated all her efforts to knit together the stories of Mikes family lineage, from which we, his cousins, benefitted and felt the awareness of resonance. She was fierce with love, devoted to her family. Lia inspired. Mike- we're with you in this tender time. Ruth, Pep, Lucie and Jack, and Janyce, our mom.
