Obituary of Bradley Wayne Hein
Bradley Wayne Hein, 49, died in his home Monday, June 13, 2022 after a series of illnesses. He was born on Sunday, November 26, 1972 at 5:30PM to Wayne J. Hein and Glynn-Kay (Chambon) Runyan in Portland, Oregon. Brad was raised in church and loved God as a child and was baptized at a young age. He loved being a Royal Ranger. Brad loved scouting in that Christian organization that is similar to Boy Scouts and earned merits equal to that of Eagle Scout. He attended schools in Tigard and Tualatin, Oregon. Brad loved science, especially oceanography and he excelled in swimming. He was on the varsity swimming and water polo teams as a freshman, and all his high school years. Brad lettered in that sport and his coach had an appointment for him with the Olympic swimming coach before he graduated. He also played football and basketball. Brad also played the trumpet from fourth grade through his senior year and enjoyed several trips with the marching band to Victoria, BC and Disneyland.A couple of summers during his high school years he stayed with his uncle, Dennis Chambon in Colorado Springs and actually spent his junior year of high school at Coronado High School with his cousin, J.R. and worked at his uncle's machine shop. However; he always loved Portland and finished his senior year there. He loved school and graduated from Tigard High School in 1991. In 1992, he moved with his mom to Colorado Springs. He loved his work in the hazmat field at Rocky Flats, ending with an injury in 1997. He incurred a permanent traumatic brain injury, but he was determined to overcome the obstacles from that, and after he pursued different construction positions, but after a year of recovery, he found his niche and went to school at West Coast Training School in Longview, Washington, and was certified as a heavy equipment operator. He worked on E-470 in Denver. Brad was a skilled heavy equipment operator and enjoyed working on difficult jobs. He enjoyed working on the scraper. He was married to Amber Eklund, and he would tell you the joy of his life was receiving his two beautiful daughters, Fionna and Oksana. He loved them and lit up with joy when he was with them. His "rough around the edges" personality would fool people when they would see the gold in his heart as he adored them. They were, indeed, his pride and joy as well as his new grandson, Von. Brad enjoyed gaming with his many friends and was an avid pool player. He enjoyed target shooting at Fort Carson whenever he had the chance. He loved studying the Bible, and reading in general. His book collection is huge. His friends were all lifelong and many are here today. Brad kept in contact with his school friends through the years and would visit them when he could. Brad was a loyal person and could be counted on when someone he knew was in need. He had a street ministry where he helped young people who were homeless to find hope. He, himself, when he was 18 years old, spent a year on the streets of Portland and understood their needs. He dared to live his dreams. If you ever call his phone number and listen to his voice message, that is evident. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Ailene Hein, and Glenn and Katherine "Bardie" Chambon.Brad is survived by his daughters, Fionna Lorelei Hein, and Oksana Tabitha Hein; grandson, Von Jerrett Hein-Gonzales (Oksana's son); his loving mother, Glynn Kay Runyan; step-father, Sid Runyan all of Colorado Springs; his father, Wayne J. Hein of Washington state; his sister, Jennica Rachel (Hein) Jenkins; brother-in-law, Russ Jenkins; and his niece, Teylana Jenkins of Rocklin, California. Also, he is survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Jan Eklund; and all the siblings-in-law; Rachel (Toby) King, John (Lindsay) Eklund, Tom (Taryn) Eklund, Ingrid (John) Laubach, and Anna (Daniel) Eklund-Harter; and many nieces and nephews.Visitation, 9:30AM-11:00AM, Funeral Service following, 11:00AM-12:00PM, Thursday, June 23, 2022, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.Graveside Service, 1:00PM, Thursday, June 23, 2022, Fairview Cemetery, 1000 South 26th Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904.
