Obituary of SFC Doyle William McNeil, U.S. Army
SFC Doyle William McNeil, U.S. Army, (Ret.), age�66, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on June 15, 2022, in the city. He was born December 29, 1955, to his mother, Lena Simmons McNeil, and father, William James McNeil in Tampa Florida. Doyle went to Howard W. Blake High School and graduated from Robinson Senior High School in 1973. He was accepted into Wilburforce University, where he studied Business Administration from August to December 1973.�Later, he studied Business Administration, Network of Workstations�at Heald College School of Business (Class of 1996). He earned a Bachelor of Science�Degree for Information Systems Management�at University of San Fransisco (Class of 1998), Network Administration�at Cochise College, PMP and C++�at Colorado Technical University.�Doyle joined the Army on August 7, 1974 and credits the military for helping to raise him. He served at Fort Carson, Colorado before being stationed at Fort Ord, California in 1986 until the base's closure. He served most of his Army career as an Infantryman�and Heavy Shell�Mortarman.�His career management field was�as Fire Direction Center Computer Chief (CMF11C). He was awarded two Meritorious Service Metals and ten Army Commendation Metals. He retired from the Army in 2005 after graduating from the�U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy�at Fort Bliss, Texas in May of 2005.Doyle was an Information Systems Analyst�at the Duke Energy Power Plant in Moss Landing, California, a Systems Analyst�at The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC), Information Developer�at USNRTHCOM, SharePoint Administration and Software Engineer�at Microlink LLC, SharePoint Administrator�at Abacus Technologies, Senior Web Applications Developer�at Progressive Insurance, Knowledge Manager�at Randolph Airforce Base-East, and Remote Technical Project Manager�at PowerTrain Landover, Maryland.Those closest to him knew him as "Billy" or "Mac".�He loved God and�was a�fiercely praying man. He loved to sing and served in every church he called "home".�He loved his family�in Tampa and Quincy, Florida and enjoyed being "Uncle" to his nieces, Rhonda Johnson, Roxanne Willams, Nicole Hudson,�and nephew, Ronald Williams, Jr.. Billy was a family man; of his many titles his most important is Dad.Billy enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos, riding in his�Nissan Maxima, IT analytics, collecting gadgets, barbecuing, banana pudding, and seeking new ventures. He loved Sci-Fi and adventure films. His favorite movies were Enter the Dragon, Indiana Jones, Independence Day, and Blade. He loved listening to The Jackon 5, Prince, Bill Withers and other Motown era music.�He used to say, "life is for the living" and lived he did.He is preceded in death by his father, William James McNeil; mother, Lena Simmons McNeil; and brother, Ronald Williams. Doyle is survived by his sisters, Patricia Palmore and Jaqueline Hudson; children, Delia McNeil-Johnson, Deurian McNeil, Samantha Ortiz-Luster, Brittany McNeil, Brim McNeil; grandchildren, Saevier�McNeil, Lyrik McNeil, Joshua Sandberg, Aubrielle McNeil, Deurian McNeil; and former wife, Leslie McNeil.�There are not�enough words that could capture his light and legacy. We are happy and proud of all that he is and was in this natural life.�The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses in the Poly Trauma Unit at Audie L. Murphy V.A.
