Obituary of Mary Louise Burns
Military wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Mary Lou Burns' love of life and family didn't come to an end with her death. Mary Lou passed away on June 16, 2022 at the age of 82 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's. She was surrounded by an absolute brigade of loved ones who will continue to honor her prolific legacy by living their lives to the fullest.Mary Lou was the real general of the home, raising five children and a thunderous crowd of grand-children and great-grandchildren. After devoting her life to her husband, Joseph III, and her kids, she went back to school and earned her BA in Religion at Colorado College in 1984. Her love of her husband, children, and Our Lord Jesus took her on many adventures, but she couldn't stay away from her rowdy family and the beauty of Colorado, where she and Joe returned to enjoy the rest of their lives. The simplest pleasures in life brought Mary Lou great joy. She loved baseball (she married a Joe DiMaggio doppleganger after all!), finding new adventures to take her family on, the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, and a Quiet Game of Bambu with anyone who she could round up to play. She loved late night laugh-fests with her family and friends, and would never pass up on the chance to bake Heavenly Pie or cream puffs for Joe. Large celebrations were her absolute favorite thing in the world!Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; sisters, Patricia, Karen, Marnie, Annette; and brother, Bob. She is survived by her brothers, Herb (Reynolds) and Tony; sister, Donna; sons, Joseph IV, Michael, David, and Timothy; daughter, Donna; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all, and forgotten by none.Memorial Mass, 10:00AM, Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904.
