Obituary of Philip Marston Haddock
Philip Marston Haddock of Black Forest, Colorado passed away on June 30, 2022 in his home at Liberty Heights Retirement Community. He was born May 10, 1928 to George Marston and Joan Pauline Haddock in Leeds, England, with the name of Philip Edgar Irving Marston Haddock. He later shortened his name to Philip Marston Haddock and became a United States citizen, after serving in the veterinary corp of the Army for two years and in the Reserves for three additional years. Though his military service was short, it was very important to him and he was proud to have served. His mom, dad, and little brother came from England in 1932 by ship through the Panama Canal, landing in San Francisco, California. Traveling then from coast to coast in a car and camper, they eventually settled in New Jersey, where Phil attended high school at Del Barton and graduated. After graduation, Phil continued to travel across the United States from ranch to ranch to become a cowboy, and a hunting guide. Always interested in flying, he worked to get his pilot's license and flew as much as he could. He was also an air traffic controller for the FAA in Longmont, Colorado. Phil then settled in Arizona, where his parents visited frequently. He has two sons from his first marriage to Nancy Carlton. He met and married his second wife, Teddy, in Scottsdale, Arizona and eventually had three daughters. In Arizona, he learned to scuba dive, and joined a diving club called the Cactus Divers. He also raised horses, hunted, camped and fished. Phil went on to earn a degree in architecture at CSU and worked for Chief Metal buildings, then eventually owned his own businesses, Wagonmaster Inc. & Consumer Construction Consultants, building and consulting in residential homes for fifty-five years. He and his family settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and eventually in Black Forest, Colorado where he raised his family and spent the rest of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theodora Moniz Haddock; father, George Marston Haddock; mother, Joan Pauline Haddock; and brother, Raymund Marston Haddock. He is survived by sons, Christopher (Becky) Haddock of Mineral Wells, Texas and Robert (Robyn) Haddock of Black Forest, Colorado; daughters, Michele (Rick) Pring of Peyton, Colorado, Jeanette (Randy) Haddock of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Suzanne (Bill) Thompson of Monument, Colorado; five grandkids and seven great-grandkids.Memorial Service, 11:00AM, Friday, July 22, 2022, 12730 Black Forest Road, Black Forest, Colorado 80908 (North of the Black Forest Community Center), with Celebration of Life immediately following.
