Obituary of Milford Erwin Prothe
Milford Erwin Prothe of Colorado Springs, Colorado died peacefully July 3, 2022 and passed into glory with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Milford was born in Olathe, Kansas on May 21, 1931, baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, often referred to as "Trinity, Block," in rural Paola, Kansas, and moved with his family to Kansas City, Missouri when he was seven. Milford served four years in the Air Force, met his wife, Lois, while on leave, and returned to Kansas City to get married and finish his accounting degree and CPA exam at KU.In 1959, Mil and Lois moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where the nights are cool and humidity low. Milford started his career at Ernst & Ernst and then worked thirteen years as Comptroller at Phil Long Ford. In 1975 he opened his own accounting practice and especially enjoyed helping people with their taxes. Milford loved to work and loved accounting. Through the years, he participated in the National Association of Accountants and Colorado Society of CPAs.For sixty-three years, Milford has faithfully attended Redeemer Lutheran Church and served in many roles, most notably, Treasurer, which was a perfect fit. You knew what he believed by how he lived - faith and family first - then the joy of work and play.Milford was a faithful and loyal husband and father - consistent, reliable, and worthy of respect. He leaves a legacy of prioritizing family, getting along, staying close and having fun together. He will be remembered by family and friends as a man of integrity, with a warm heart and competitive spirit.
