Obituary of Dolores Ann Tafoya

Our precious mother, Dolores Ann Tafoya, passed away at home with her family by her side on Saturday, August 13, 2022. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A native of Colorado Springs, Dolores grew up in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado with her fourteen siblings.Dolores married the love of her life Richard R. Chavez on June 25, 1960. They were married for sixty-five years and had five children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among her many accomplishments, which included her large family, she achieved a black belt in karate. During the summer she enjoyed fishing, dancing, spending time with her children, and hosting family barbeques.Dolores was proceeded in death by her father, Joe Tafoya; and mother, Mary Tafoya; along with her fourteen siblings.She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Richard R. Chavez; along with her five children, Andria, Sherry, Richard, Tonnie and Daniel; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Mackenzie.
