Q: How would you describe Joseph "Joe" to someone who had never met them? My Tio Joe was a father figure to me. He was so kind, loving, and an honorable man, he always asked about how I was doing and showed interest in my life, he gave me great advice when I was growing up. Tio Joe was the best example that I have ever seen of what a loving husband and father should look like and I strive to follow his example. As kids I remember spending time together with Tio Joe, Tia Gloria, his girls, my mom, Tio Joe's sister Caroline and the rest of his siblings and their families. Family was very important to my tio Joe but there was no one more important to him than his beloved wife my Tia Gloria and beautiful girls Sylvia, Elsa, Gloria, and his grandchildren. As kids I remember the outing we would go on with all his siblings and their families we would go to Tule Springs, Mt Charleston, Lake Mead or just one the aunts or uncles homes to just spend family time together and share good food, good times, and great memories, memories that I will cherish forever. Tio Joe had the best smile, the kindest eyes, and the biggest heart of anyone I know. He and Tia Gloria always made everyone feel welcome in their home and even at the church where they served for many many years, they were loved so very much by all the parishioners of st. Gabriel's and they and we were so sad when they moved to Colorado Springs. Tio Joe and Tia Gloria hosted many family parties at their home In Las Vegas that included his girls, grand children, siblings, nephews, neices and all their families and they always included their church family. Wow! What great parties they hosted. There will never be anyone who can fill my tio Joe's shoes. God only made one special man in my tio Joe and the mold was broken, just like our hearts. We have such fond memories of you Tio, that will live on in our hearts forever. God blessed our family with a man that I had the pleasure of calling my Tio Joe. Till we meet again in heaven Tio, please give my mom a kiss for me. All our love, Steve, Rosalinda, Steven, Zachary, and Gabriella.

He was the best Grandfather. I have so many memories of him taking my sister and I to the mall to ride the carusel (probably spelled wrong), and to eat ice cream. I believe we went every weekend. I have memories of riding our bikes down the road and going on hikes at the park. I think of the big parties that you and grandma threw for us. There are so many beautiful memories that come to mind when I think of you. You are truly missed, our family will never be the same. You're with Shelby and family now and I pray that you were set free in heaven. We love you so much and I look forward to seeing you again one day. It's surreal knowing you are not on earth anymore, but you are with us always. Addy didn't get to meet you very much and I wish she got to know you like Kymber and I knew you. Thank you for being a wonderful grandfather. We love and miss you so much.

I've known my uncle since we left North Carolina. There where we had humble beginning he was more of a big brother to me. He set the standards for setting goals and living a better life. He enriched not only my life but others too, family and friends alike. He was truly a great man and will be missed by all.
