Obituary of Igor Richard Valentine

Igor Richard Valentine died on September 22, 2022 of natural causes. A long-time resident of Irvine, California, he recently relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Igor was born on August 24, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. His father, Val Valentine, escaped from Russia during the Bolshevik Revolution to New York and then relocated to the Detroit, Michigan area. Igor graduated from the Henry Ford Trade School in Detroit and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp as an enlisted man at 19 years old. He went into Officer's Candidate School, and worked his way up through the ranks from a Private all the way to a Lieutenant Colonel when he retired in 1980. Through a long thirty-year career of sacrifice and patriotism, he served in the Korean War and served in two tours of the Vietnam War. During his career in the military, he earned a Navy Commendation Medal, a Purple Heart, a Meritorious Service Medal, a Navy Unit Commendation, a Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal,and a Vietnam Service Medal. During his life, he was married three times, to Marguerite, Maureen and Mary Valentine. He was also an avid Los Angeles Angels fan. He is survived by his three children, Melissa (Rob) Christensen, Michelle Valentine, and Greg (Mary) Valentine; and eleven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Val and Ilga Valentine. Funeral Service, 1:00PM, Wednesday, March 29, 2023, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia 22211. He will be laid to rest with full honors by his beloved late wife and mother of their three children, Marguerite.
