Obituary of Richard "Dick" Frank Huntrods
Richard "Dick" Huntrods, age 96, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on September 30, 2022 at home surrounded by family.
He was born July 26, 1926 to Frank and Erma Huntrods in Compton, California.
Dick went to Compton High School and graduated in 1944. In his senior year he enlisted in the United States Navy, and upon graduation went to basic training. He served in the United States Navy for the rest of 1944 and 1945 during World War II. Most of that time he was being trained in electronics.
During his time in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Frieda Smith Huntrods. They were married in October of 1946, and remained married for sixty-five years until Frieda's passing in 2012.
Dick spent most all of his working career in aerospace electronics, and also had a wedding photography business out of his home for several years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frieda Huntrods; his parents, Frank and Erma Huntrods; and his sister, Virginia Kelton.
Dick is survived by his sons, Rick and Rob of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Julie (David) Huntrods Schaal and Jeremy Huntrods of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michael (Penny) Huntrods also of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Melanie (Nick) Huntrods Cambria of Windermere, Florida; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Thursday, October 20, 2022, Woodmen Valley Chapel, Colorado Springs, Colorado where he and Frieda attended for many years. Reception to follow.
Inurnment will be at Ft Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado at a later date.
